Training & Consultation

Emily provides training sessions to schools and educators, covering educational approaches, disabilities and working with cognitive diversity. Training sessions and consultations aim to promote and educate individuals on using strength-based approaches when empowering children and removing barriers to learning. Areas that can be covered include:

Emily is also available for consultation with parents and families, helping them understand their child's behavior and develop plans for addressing individual challenges.

Educational Assessments

Learning difficulties can make children feel frustrated and unmotivated. An educational assessment uncovers the reasons why your child is having challenges in school and provides data regarding the intellectual, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of your child. Detailed reports, including recommendations, are provided after assessments. Emily's unique, child-centered approach, helps kids develop a presentation about themselves to develop self-awareness and advocate for their needs.

Reading - Dyslexia

Helping kids who exhibit difficulty reading words, understanding what they read, and following written directions.

Writing - Dysgraphia

Helping kids who exhibit difficulty with handwriting, completing written work, and putting their ideas down on paper.

Math - Dyscalculia

Helping kids who exhibit difficulty with math calculation, problem solving, and understanding sequences and patterns.

Short & Long Term Memory

Understanding why your child has challenges retaining information, following multi step directions, and demonstrating what they know.

Executive Functioning - ADD or ADHD

Understanding your child's strengths and challenges with attention and concentration, organization, and behavior.

IQ Testing, Gifted and Talented

Understanding your child's unique learning abilities and screening for Gifted and Talented programs.

Fees

Learning Disability Assessment - $3200.

Dyslexia (reading disorder), Dysgraphia (writing disorder), Dyscalculia (math disability) testing.

Testing for a learning disability requires 3 days of testing, and completion of medical and behavioral forms. The teacher will be contacted to complete academic and behavioral forms. Fee includes pre and post conferences, all testing, evaluation of school records, and a written report with recommendations.

Executive Functioning Assessment - $3800.

Attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD) with or without hyperactivity, or other attention and concentration impairment.

Requires an observation of your child in the classroom, three days of testing, and completion of medical and behavioral forms. The teacher will be contacted to complete academic and behavioral forms. Fee includes pre and post conferences, testing, observation in school, evaluation of school records, speaking with school personnel, and a written report with recommendations.

IQ Assessment or Memory screening - $450.

These assessments can be conducted in a single session and do not include follow-up meetings with the child's school.

Group Training and Parent Coaching

Emily offers a free 20min phone consultation, and hourly rates are negotiated.

About Emily

Emily Santiago (LEP, NCSP) is an Educational Psychologist specializing in diagnostic assessments and intelligence testing of kids from 5 to 17 years. She is passionate about providing children and families with strength based recommendations designed to help kids reach their full potential. With 20+ years as an educator and school psychologist, Emily has helped many children overcome challenges and reach successful outcomes.

Licenses and Certifications

Emily is licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (license number LEP3642) and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She is an active member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the American Psychological Association.

School Psychologist

Emily has practiced as a school psychologist since 2009 and currently teaches in the Educational Psychology department at California State University East Bay. She has experience developing mindfulness programs, school-based mental health services, and family wraparound services.
